At first glance, most people would assess WivesLooking4Affairs.com to be a fun dating platform. Here, users can connect with local singles and find dates. We looked further into the site to see if this was true. Sadly, in our review of the Terms of Service, and our experience testing the site, we discovered that it is an expensive fake chat scam, and a subscription trap.
The operator of this site is notorious for rip-offs like this. The operator is only referring to themselves by the name Internet Services, but the layout and wording of the terms is more than similar to previous reviewed websites. In the past, we have criticised them for employing fake chat operators. These appear to be genuine members, to entice users into signing up for a premium membership. Unfortunately, WivesLooking4Affairs.com is no different from this operator’s other sites. As sending messages here comes at a charge, this site is a very expensive scam.
Automated ‘entertainment’ profiles
We took a thorough look at the Terms and Conditions page of this site. The operator admits to using fictitious profiles. The website refers to these fake accounts as ‘bots and automated profiles,’ meaning they are either employees of the company, or computerised chatting systems. The terms state that these profiles are meant to enhance the “entertainment” of its users and help them interact with real members. In our experience, this is not true at all. It is quite unlikely that anyone is coming to this website to practice chatting.
Excerpt from the Terms & Conditions (as of 01/09/2023)
Please, note that while using Our Services You may sometimes interact with automated online accounts and/or fictitious profiles, which its interactions have been generated by or with the assistance of automated programs or scripts, or by real persons that have been contracted or employed by Us (Hereinafter, referred to as “Bots”, “Automated Profiles” or “Fictitious profiles”).
These Automated Profiles are being used within the Services for enhancing Your amusement experience and providing You with entertaining services, which helps You to better intercommunicate with another user who is a real human being.
Expensive subscription trap
The purpose of the fictitious profiles on this website is to lure users into a subscription trap. Fake chat operators will send users enticing messages immediately after they sign up. These messages are often suggestive or enticing in nature. They encourage users to answer their invitation to chat. The problem is that users must purchase a premium membership subscription, to unlock the chatting feature.
As we have noted in the past, the operator of this website has a poor reputation for ignoring subscription cancellation requests. Sine these subscriptions renew automatically, there is a high risk of users finding themselves trapped in a cycle of recurring payments.
