The landing page of the online dating website WantMatures.com gives an excellent first impression and looks very legit. It aims for people with the preference of dating older women, but we know better. The portal is just a camouflaged scam and not a sincere dating service. The website claims to have more than 9 million members globally and about 1.5 million new visitors per month. The visitors are mostly from the UK, Australia and the US. The operator is Northlock Holdings LTD, based in Tortola on the British Virgin Islands.
The sign-up process is not time-consuming and can be done within 2–3 minutes. Email verification is required, and the visitor needs to provide his age, sexual preference and location upon registration.

After that, the new member finds himself in the main member’s area. The design is clean, and the interface is easy and intuitive. As a standard member, you can use the search filters and categories, send out “winks” for free and add members to favourites. The feature of sending messages is, of course, a premium feature and the new member needs to upgrade his membership. This is the first part of the lure to get people into expensive subscriptions.
The new members will receive tons of emails and faked messages to animate them to upgrade their accounts because they cannot respond to any of these messages or use any real features without doing so. We also found evidence of ‘ripped’ pictures, which means they have been stolen from all over the internet.
