The best thing about this site is that it is completely free. NZDating.com is operated by New Zealand City LTD. This operator is headquartered in Lower Hutt, which is a city in New Zealand.
While you can use the site for free, there is also the option of paying for a premium membership. The so-called gold membership comes with benefits, such as increased visibility, and advanced search options. As far as we can tell, NZDating.com appears to be a legitimate dating site and not a scam. However, the lack of active members makes finding dates extremely difficult. Some former members even claim that a few fake profiles have found their way into the members’ area.

NZDating.com wants to make dating easy and fun. This is the impression that we get when we see the landing page. Apparently, this site has been around since 1998, and counts as the best dating site for singles in New Zealand. It seems that the operator has managed to bring thousands of people together, creating various success stories. But the mediocre customer reviews, and low number of active members, tells a different story. However, from our experience, we do not deem this site to be a rip-off.
New Zealand City LTD is the proud owner and operator of NZDating.com. Unsurprisingly, the company is headquartered in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. Lower Hutt is right next to the country’s capital, Wellington. We do not know much about this operator, but we acknowledge their long-standing experience when it comes to operating dating sites.
Features
After the registration, we can use the search function right away. On NZDating.com, you are not required to upload a profile photo, which is why many of the members do not have one. When we were logged in, there were about 200 to 300 members online. The group chat is even less active and is often used by only two to three people at the same time. It is safe to say that it can be quite difficult to find soulmates here.
The gold membership
You can use the search function and chat with other members for free. However, there is also a paid membership, which you can purchase. The gold membership grants certain premium benefits. Gold members are rewarded with a higher visibility in the members’ area. They can save members, send emoticons in the chat, and make use of additional search filters.
Apparently, the gold membership does not renew automatically. Instead, users must manually extend their membership, under “My Account”. This sounds fair to us. NZDating.com does not seem to be a subscription rip-off. Even though some former members mention fake profiles in their reviews, NZDating.com does not appear to be a fake chat scam.
The conclusion from our NZDating.com review
We like that you can freely chat on NZDating.com without a paid membership. However, we doubt that this is truly the best dating site for singles in New Zealand. The low number of active members make it difficult to find matches. Paying for the gold membership does not really solve the problem. New Zealand City LTD appears to be a trustworthy operator. You do not have to cancel your gold membership. You are supposed to extend it manually, which is not always the case on dating sites.

NZDating.com still features the same landing page as in our previous review. New Zealand City LTD, from Lower Hutt, in New Zealand is still the operator and owner. The company remains to be legit and trustworthy. They are free from any online dating scams. It is a great platform for finding useful free chat services. You must upgrade to a premium membership to enjoy more advanced features. Clients who select a membership, and pay a subscription, do not have to worry about any tricks. There are no automatic renewals and hidden fees to rip off users.
Although this site is not a scam, there are still few active members. This makes it difficult for users to find matches. Plus, the site still has negative online reviews from unsatisfied past users.
