The landing page of LonelyGrannies.com looks quite legit and promising. The photo of a naked mature woman serves as the background for the registration form. A few pictures of the latest members are displayed in the middle of the page. They all look like genuine people who are interested in finding casual sexual adventures without commitment. The registration form invites readers to sign up for free to join the community and start their quest.
Unfortunately, LonelyGrannies.com is far from being a free website. The promise on the initial page might not be a scam, but it is highly misleading, especially for those who do not have any previous experience with dating platforms. Sure, the registration is free, but this does not mean that users will be able to access all the features available on this platform without paying. Basic membership only allows you to create an account and view other profiles. But to communicate with other members, you will have to purchase expensive credits.
The credit system
Credits are virtual items which allow users to send messages. Every message requires a certain number of credits. These can be bought in bundles of different sizes. Prices vary according to the size of the purchased package. A single message can end up costing around $2.00 The Internet is full of reviews from desperate people that have wasted big money in a short period of time because of this cheeky payment method. But the major issue with LonelyGrannies.com is not that it is very expensive. The real problem is that it is useless.
Excerpt from the Terms & Conditions (as of 05/09/2023)
In order to enhance your amusement experience, to stimulate you and others to use our Services more extensively, and to generally sprinkle some sparkle and excitement into the Services of LONELYGRANNIES.COM, we may post fictitious profiles.
Sex dates? Not here
Most of the profiles in the member’s area of LonelyGrannies.com are fake. The messages, which users receive, come either from fake chat operators or from chatbots. The latter is a piece of software which is commonly used to lure members into buying credits. This is a rip-off because these fake accounts are not identified separately in the system. Finding somebody to meet in real life is almost impossible. The company responsible for this scam is unknown. In the Terms and Conditions, they refer to themselves as LonelyGrannies.com, which is obviously not their legal name.
